BEC Uses Validated Performance Levels
to Measure Mastery

BEC uses performance measurement standards developed and verified by the nonprofit Institute for Effective Instruction (IEI), whose mission is to promote highly effective instruction. IEI standards are based on “Best Practices” which are endorsed by the IEI Standards Advisory Board and are consistent with the 2003 guidelines of the International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction related to instruction effectiveness.

The IEI “Best Practices” skills represent a consensus of researchers and practitioners in the field of education and are based on thorough research of literature and studies relative to effective instruction. In endorsing the standards, the IEI avoids adopting a particular teaching methodology or framework, but rather seeks to identify those practices common to all methodologies that promote instructional effectiveness.
